The idea

We are building a collectible card line that celebrates FSL players, hand-picked pros, and eventually casters, celebrities, and team cards, all in a cohesive sci-fi sports aesthetic. Cards are meant to feel like something you want on a shelf or in a binder: holographic edges, sharp typography, stats, and optional deep cuts like strengths and championship history.

This page explains how the first launch works, who can take part, how packs and rarities are planned, and where we are headed next. Pricing and exact print numbers will be finalized once roster and vendor quotes are locked. Here you get the full picture of the vision.

Why Launch Edition first

We are not framing this as an open-ended crowdfunding campaign with stretch goals. Launch Edition is a deliberate first print: smaller audience, clearer logistics, and a chance to prove printing, shipping, and artist workflows before we scale.

  • Limited and real: A finite run (or window) makes first-edition cards genuinely scarce later.
  • Lower risk: We start with people who already care about FSL and friends they invite.
  • Learn true costs: Foils, pack randomization, and international shipping get priced from experience, not guesses.
  • Then “the real one”: Broader retail, more SKUs, and refined pricing after Launch succeeds.

Who can buy and who is on the cards

Eligibility (planned)

  • Anyone who has ever played in the FSL may purchase through the site (FSL login; we can verify manually if needed).
  • Each eligible player may invite a small number of friends (on the order of 2 to 3 invitees) so the drop stays exclusive and invites stay valuable.
  • Invited friends may purchase while Launch rules allow.

Roster: FSL players who opt in (including paid customization tier) and select non-league pros with signed agreements.

FSL likeness: see Launch Edition — FSL player cards (opt-in) below for how to email consent. Pros receive their own card; revenue share is per individual agreement.

What you can get in Launch

Customize your card

FSL players who opt into the paid tier work with our artists on a limited number of revision rounds so portrait, framing, and details match how you want to be remembered on cardboard.

Customization pricing ties to designer time, quoted separately from print.

Blind packs

Packs are randomized: you do not pick individual cards off a menu. That keeps pulls exciting and supports trading.

Planned rule: when you open packs while logged in, you will not pull your own player card from random packs. Your personal card is handled through the customization or league path. (Manual exceptions possible for edge cases.)

Pros in Launch

A small set of professional players we contact directly will have written approval (likeness and terms). They receive their own card as part of the deal. Revenue share on Launch may be modest; the hook is a great card, being part of the first wave, and upside as future sets scale.

Launch Edition — FSL player cards (opt-in)

Cards featuring FSL league players are opt in only. We are not posting a roster of names here—nobody should assume they are included until they have agreed in writing.

How to opt in — The player, or their parent or legal guardian when that applies, should email kj@psistorm.com with consent and approval to join the Launch Edition card list. Include the player name and FSL handle so we can match records. We will reply with next steps.

Pack layout (planned)

Each pack is planned as 10 cards: 8 commons from the common pool and 2 specials (foils, parallels, serials, or similar. Final treatments depend on print quotes).

Super rare chases will be a small fraction of the overall print or appear at a published rate. Exact counts are set once the roster and total print run are fixed, then published before orders close.

One pack: 8 common slots and 2 special slots One pack (10 cards) 8 commons from pool 2 special pulls

Rarity tiers (planning)

Tier Role How we think about it
Common 8 per pack Base roster print; most pulls.
Special 2 per pack Shorter-run finishes or parallels, defined per set.
Super rare Chase Hard cap or published insert rate, announced with final roster.
Rarity pyramid Common (wide base) Special Super rare (apex)

Roadmap after Launch

Future waves are planned, not all priced on day one. As we learn real costs from Launch, we will publish pricing and SKUs for the next steps.

Broader availability: Sales beyond the FSL and invite circle when we are ready operationally.
More product types: Randomized retail packs, additional foil and parallel treatments, boxed sets.
Expanded roster: More pros, casters, personalities, and team cards.
Clear economics: Revenue share and partner terms refined using Launch data; no bait-and-switch on what Launch includes.

Costs and pricing (transparent)

  • Print and materials: Stock, finishes, packaging, and overrun depend on vendor quotes and quantity.
  • Shipping: Weight and regions drive postage; we will state supported regions before we charge cards.
  • Payment processing and ops: Built into final prices with a contingency buffer.
  • Customization: Separately quoted from blind packs so players know what funds art vs print.
